Info Post

Here we find a delusional "cool dude" who owns a Mellotron and likes prog music. Yes, it's true, prog fans have a reputation of being geeky, nerdy dweebs. But most of us them really aren't.

For you young whippersnappers out there in Netland, a Mellotron is a keyboard from the sixties that plays thirty tape recorders, one for each key. The beginning weird flutes of "Strawberry Fields Forever" by The Beatles are played by a Mellotron. "Nights in White Satin" by The Moody Blues has Mellotron strings on it.

Interesting anecdote from Mellotron expert Chris Dale:  The Mellotron orchestral tapes feature members of Lawrence Welk's orchestra.  So the next time you hear "Kashmir" by Led Zeppelin or "Changes" by Black Sabbath, that's Lawrence Welk's waltz/polka orchestra on strings.

Prog is short for "progressive music", complex rock music requiring exceptional instrumental skills favored by intellectual guys. Mocked as too long, fancy, and boring by the other 99% of music fans, including about 100% of women. Famous prog groups include The Moody Blues (again), Yes, Genesis, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Rush, and "King Crimson" (aka "satan").
